NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — A Mankato television news anchor has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving two weeks after her on-air broadcast raised questions about her sobriety.
KEYC-TV news executives say Annie Stensrud told them she was taking medication that caused her to verbally stumble through a brief news show Dec. 4. Viewers speculated Stensrud may have been intoxicated. The broadcast was posted on YouTube and picked up hundreds of thousands of hits.
A North Mankato police report says Stensrud was pulled over Wednesday afternoon after driving erratically. Nicollet County sheriff's deputies took her to jail after she refused a breath test. She was later released.
KEYC (http://bit.ly/ugeR1E) general manager Denny Wahlstrom says because it's a personnel matter, the station has no further comment.
