Health officials urge flu vaccinations

Flu season is here, and health officials say it's important to get a flu shot. Unlike previous years there is plenty of the vaccine to go around. You may have also noticed that there are not as many ads or flu shot events this year as previous years. It's not the threat is any less, but that there is less money for ads and events.

Kathy McKay – Clay County Public Health Director: “I think we saw increased federal funding and additional state funding during H1N1. There was a big push, we needed to get vaccine out into the population and there was additional funding we could tap into. This year is just the same, where we don't have extra funding to do a lot of advertising.”

You can find out about flu shots from you medical provider, some pharmacies or from county health offices.
