Eleven months after collapsing and almost dying during a basketball game, Perham's Zach Gabbard suited up for the first time tonight.
Zach went through warm-ups, as #2 Perham took on #1 Pelican Rapids. Zach hasn't been cleared to play yet, but he is practicing and slowly regaining his strength. His coach says he's got a long way to go, but tonight is a big step.
Kurt Nelson – Perham Fargo: “It's amazing for the community, it's a story book story, it's exciting, the community really pulled together for him, it's great to see him back.”
Griffin Helmeke – Perham Junior: “It's really good for you school. We’ve supported him the whole way. All this is for him, and we're glad to see him out here. Hopefully he'll make us proud tonight, and we'll make him proud tonight.”
