Plains Art Museum receives major gift for addition

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Plains Art Museum is getting a major gift to help make an addition to the museum into a reality. Museum officials announced today that they have received $300,000 from the Katherine Kilbourne Bergum Trust to help complete its center for creativity project.

The Plains Art Museum is getting a major gift to help make an addition to the museum into a reality. Museum officials announced today that they have received $300,000 from the Katherine Kilbourne Bergum Trust to help complete its center for creativity project.

They also announced another $200,000 challenge grant donation that will also go towards the project. The new center will be located in the building behind the museum on 1st avenue and will include a studio for painting and drawing, a sculpture studio, and much more.

Rick Buresh – Fargo Public Schools Superintendent: “I think that this is one thing that this facility, this program, is going to add value to what we do in the inspirational aspect of it, being able to see other artist working to see the products of other artists, so we look forward to that.”

The new center when completed will have cost $2.85 million. Construction will begin in January, and be complete by the fall.
