Travel between West Acres Mall and downtown Fargo is getting easier. Metro Area Transit plans to double the number of buses that run from 13th avenue south to the transit center downtown. The increase means a bus will come every 15 minutes. Right now, it's the most popular route and buses are always full. Fargo city officials hope the change will attract people who want to shop downtown, but don't want the hassle of finding a parking spot.
Jim Gilmour – Fargo City Planner: “Then routes run that frequently you get a lot more people willing to ride them because you don't really need a schedule coming by every 15 minutes, it becomes very convenient and much more attractive to people who might have tighter schedules.”
The Fargo City Commission still needs to approve the added buses, but the new schedule could start by the end of January.
