A North Dakota republican says he has a sure-fire plan to drag the nation out of its economic slump. US Senate Candidate Duane Sand is calling it the seven point energy plan. Sand is a nuclear engineer and Navy Commander Reservist, so his plan supports creating more nuclear power plants. He proposes building 20 plants across the country, including one right here in the Red River Valley. Sand says all of our current plants are aging.
Duane Sand – (R) US Senate Candidate: This is a $15 billion corporate investment to build a nuclear power plant. That's a $15 billion investment in North Dakota that would create 3,000 new permanent, well-paying jobs."
Sand also suggests that we increase off-shore drilling, refinery capacity, and start allowing oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve.
