Inmate who fled from transport van near Valley City may change plea

Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney says the estimated total so far for the man hunt is roughly $55,000. This total came from the nearly 60 personnel and the seven or eight agencies involved.
(WDAY TV) - The inmate who put authorities and the public on high alert after fleeing from a transport van might be changing his plea.
30-year old Joseph Megna previously pleaded not guilty to a felony escape charge. The charge stems from Megna fleeing a prisoner transport van at a rest area on I-94.
Area farmers combined a cornfield to push Megna out of hiding. He's currently in the Barnes County jail on 100-thousand dollars bail. The change of plea hearing is set for January 4th.
Meantime, authorities and farmers are still waiting to be reimbursed, more than 91-thousand dollars, for their efforts with the manhunt.
