ND Senate's Democratic leader pursuing run for governor

Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) - The North Dakota State Senate's Democratic leader is setting his sights on a higher office.

The North Dakota State Senate's Democratic leader is setting his sights on a higher office. Ryan Taylor is seeking the party's endorsement to run for governor. The Towner rancher has been a North Dakota senator for nine years. Taylor announced his candidacy Monday. He's the first Democrat to announce a campaign for governor. Taylor is looking to oppose Republican Gov. Jack Dalrymple in next year's election. Fargo architect Paul Sorum is running against Dalrymple for the Republican governor's endorsement.
