A Mayville soldier returned home after being deployed for more than two years. Leah Kyllo says the things she missed the most were American food, TV, and her bed. She was a paralegal at the NATO headquarters in Kosovo and Bosnia. and originally joined the National Guard to help pay for college. She says she feels lucky to live in the United States after seeing poverty where she was deployed.

Leah Kyllo – Army National Guard: “A great experience especially for someone from North Dakota. I got to do a lot of traveling, I saw a lot of things in the world and I got to learn a lot and meet a lot of interesting people so it's amazing what the military can do for you sometimes.”

Kyllo was deployed with Kosovo Force 12. The mission was the single largest mobilization for the North Dakota National Guard since the Korean War.
