Senator Hoeven is leading efforts in the Senate to introduce the legislation which clears the way to build the Keystone XL Pipeline. His expansion reduces our dependence on oil from the Middle East and provides better environmental stewardship.

Republicans have tacked a provision on to their payroll tax cut bill that would force the administration to decide whether to allow construction of the keystone XL Pipeline within 60 days. Senator Hoeven stressed its impact on the people of North Dakota.

Senator John Hoeven – (R) North Dakota: “We've got to get the national economy growing to reduce our national deficit and debt. That affects every one of us here in North Dakota, and not only us but our kids. We don't want to hand off a debt to our kids in the future, so this affects us very dramatically”

Senator Hoeven is expecting to have results on this legislation next month.
