A special guest of honor is coming to a Wahpeton school. Tomorrow, the Circle of Nations will welcome the National Endowment of the Arts Chariman Rocco Landesmen. Landesmen will be looking at these birch-bark scrolls, which tell stories using symbols. With a $5,000 grant from the NEA, the school was able to study this traditional Native American art form. Students learned its importance, how to create it, and even participated in creating a documentary.

Laura Youngbird – Circle of Nations Teacher: "I believe it’s very important for our students to know about different histories and we have students from all over the United States."

With the grant money the school was able to bring in North Dakota artist Anthony LaFromboise to teach students how to create the birch-bark scrolls.
