(WDAY TV) - A strong federal deficit could change the amount of coverage producers get in the year ahead. Woody Barth is the North Dakota Farmers Union President.

He knows money is tight in Washington and financial cuts will be made in the 2012 Farm Bill. Barth says risk management protection, an affordable insurance program and programs to protect ranchers against forage and livestock losses are top priorities.

WOODY BARTH - NDFU President: "If you could write a good Farm Bill, it would be a different type of Farm Bill, but it would be a Farm Bill that would protect revenue either production losses or income losses for family farmers and ranchers.”

Barth wants people to take concerns to lawmakers.
