The Red River Zoo welcomed a new member into its family. A muntjac gave birth to this female fawn Friday. The muntjac are one of the smallest deer in the world, the average adult weighs about 25 pounds. They're native to northern China, northern Russia, Mongolia and Tibet. But you can check out this exotic species right here in Fargo.

Lisa Tate – Red River Zoo Executive Director: "Well it's always important for kids to reconnect with nature and especially in today's world where there are so many reasons to stay inside. The zoo is a great place to bring to educate them in a really fun way about animals."

The muntjac are also the oldest known deer. There's evidence of their existence 15 to 35 million years ago.
