BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Bismarck's Britany Fleck is making history at the National Finals Rodeo, which gets under way Thursday in Las Vegas.
The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/tl56aj) that Fleck is the first North Dakota woman to qualify for the event in barrel racing.
The 28-year-old Fleck is 12th in the world standings. She clinched a spot in the National Finals Rodeo during the final weekend of the season at a rodeo in Omaha, Neb. She began that weekend ranked 16th, and only the top 15 qualify.
Fleck is the only North Dakotan competing in this year's 10-day finals.
