WINONA, Minn. — Former newspaper carriers who delivered the Winona Republican-Herald 60 years ago plan to meet next month to recreate a dinner held in their honor in 1951.

Former paperboy Roger Morcomb of Santa Rosa, Calif., was going through old papers last year when he found a program from the 1951 dinner. He realized this year would be the 60th anniversary so he decided to plan a reunion.

A Winona Daily News report says he searched for the 101 men whose names were listed on the program. Some have died, but he says at least 11 people have said they plan to attend the reunion.

Dick Young of Winona remembers delivering 164 papers through the snow during World War II. He said the news, like the mail, had to go through.
