While many of us are preparing for a houseful of hungry relatives tonight as part of the Thanksgiving Holiday, others are plotting strategy for Black Friday. Then there is a Moorhead mother of three who is celebrating time.
35 year-old Jamie Mercier has already lived longer than doctors said. So with the holidays fast approaching - and time so precious - Jamie is finding comfort in the kindness of strangers who appear out of nowhere to help.
Photographer Lindsey Johnson is used to taking family pictures. But this photo shoot is like no other. This is a mother's gift; every single frame. When photographer Lindsey Johnson heard about Jamie Mercier's cancer battle and the poor prognosis, she offered something to mother of three that will be appreciated for years to come: A free photo shoot.
Not just any portrait, but a record of a life of Jamie, her daughters Sadie, Shelbie and son Riley.
Jamie Mercier – Celebrating Thanksgiving: “I think for these guys to have memories, you know.”
For the past two years Jamie has been battling melanoma. Doctors gave her until April. She's a fighter, in it for her kids. Knowing time is short, she jumped at the chance for these precious pictures.
Jamie Mercier: “It is just so they have something to look back on.”
It's sure been tough on the kids. The only thing certain is the unknown. For now, it's all about countless smiles.
Magnificent minutes together, and a Thanksgiving that will be all about inspiration and a picture that is priceless. Donations for Jamie and her children are being accepted at Health Source Chiropractic Clinic in Fargo.
