Fargo library ebook program hits roadblock
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo Public Library is hitting a roadblock in its online lending program.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
The Fargo Public Library is hitting a roadblock in its online lending program. The Penguin Group will not allow Kindle users to check out any newly-released books. The large publisher, who puts out books by Sue Grafton and Clive Cussler, says there are security issues with digital editions. So when you are on the library's website searching for e-books to check out you'll have to stick with Penguin books previously purchased by the library.
Ben Daeuber – Technology Librarian: “If somebody were to remove the digital rights management, which is what Penguin says they are worried about, they would have it for an unlimited amount of time."
Penguin won't say if, or when, Kindle users will be allowed to check out new books.
