MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol says drunken-driving arrests made between New Year's Eve and the morning of New Year's Day are up slightly from the past two years.

Lt. Eric Roeske (ROS'-kee) says patrol officers made 30 drunken-driving arrests between Friday at noon at Saturday at 8 a.m. That compares to 25 arrests statewide last year and 28 the year before that.

Roeske tells KSTP-TV that 17 of this year's arrests were made in the Twin Cities.

He also says there were 167 crashes statewide, of which half were in the metro area. None of those crashes was deadly.
