ND Taxable Sales Up in 3Q

The state Tax Department says North Dakota's taxable sales and purchases for July, August and September totaled more than $3.9 billion. Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says that's up $863 million for the same period last year.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The state Tax Department says North Dakota's taxable sales and purchases for July, August and September totaled more than $3.9 billion.

Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says that's up $863 million for the same period last year.

The Williston Herald reports that cities in western North Dakota's oil patch recorded huge increases for the quarter. Williston's taxable sales were more than $378 million. That's up $151 million from the same period last year.

The increase in pushed Williston past Bismarck, which had $362 million in taxable sales. Williston trailed only Fargo, which had $593 million in taxable sales.
