NGS beats North Star 50-42 for ND 9-man title

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Quarterback Jonah Schwartzenberger ran for 242 yards and three scores and threw two touchdown passes to lead Napoleon-Gackle Streeter to a 50-42 win over North Star in the North Dakota 9-man championship game on Friday.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Quarterback Jonah Schwartzenberger ran for 242 yards and three scores and threw two touchdown passes to lead Napoleon-Gackle Streeter to a 50-42 win over North Star in the North Dakota 9-man championship game on Friday.

Schwartzenberger also picked off a Jacob Hagler pass at the NGS (12-1) 17-yard line to stop a last-second drive by North Star (11-2). Hagler set records for completions (21), attempts (41) and yards passing (377) and tied the touchdown passing mark (5).

Schwartzenberger also broke the previous passing yards record of 281 yards by going 21 of 30 for 301 yards.

Thirteen Dakota Bowl records were tied or broken in the game.

North Star receiver Daniel Grande had a record 11 receptions for 191 yards and three touchdowns.
