PEMBINA, N.D. (AP) — The attorney for the lead prosecutor in Pembina County says complaints against his client result from a personal feud.

Bruce Quick says there has been ongoing conflict between State's Attorney Stuart Askew and some county commissioners. He says Askew has proven himself to be a competent prosecutor and has received calls and letters of support from people inside and outside the legal community.

The Grand Forks Herald reports (http://bit.ly/vRAqPo ) that the state attorney general's office is investigating after receiving complaints from commissioners and a petition for Askew's removal signed by 88 people including the sheriff. The allegations against Askew include misconduct, lack of diligence and communication, neglect of duties, intimidation and creation of a hostile work environment.

Quick says Askew believes he has done an excellent job in the office.
