JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — Bond has been set at $5,000 for a Jamestown teacher accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Fifty-four-year-old Richard Laqua is accused of inappropriately touching the girl and sending her sexually explicit text messages. Superintendent Robert Toso says the girl is not one of Laqua's students.
The Jamestown Sun reports (http://bit.ly/shJmR1 ) that Laqua has been a teacher in the city for 23 years. He currently is a construction technology instructor at James Valley Career and Technology Center. He has been suspended with pay pending a school district investigation.
Laqua is charged with sexual assault and luring a minor by computer or other electronic means. Defense attorney Lawrence Kropp did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment.
