DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — The mayor of Minnewaukan is heading to jail for two months for violating terms of her probation on a bad check conviction.
Trish McQuoid was put on probation last year and ordered to pay more than $3,400 in restitution and fees. Judge Lee Christofferson said McQuoid failed to make restitution on schedule and also failed to remain law-abiding. She was convicted earlier this year in a second bad check case.
McQuoid wrote the bad checks from the account of a grocery store she later closed. She said the store was in financial trouble because of Devils Lake flooding that has plagued the town for years. She declined comment to KZZY radio after her court appearance Wednesday.
