US television and radios to air national EAS test

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you are watching TV tomorrow afternoon, your viewing will be interrupted for a first-of-its-kind test.

If you are watching TV tomorrow afternoon, your viewing will be interrupted for a first-of-its-kind test. There will be a national emergency alert, on TVs and radios, around 1 PM. For more than 50 years, those alerts have been issued locally, but now, everyone in the nation will hear the same alert, at the same time. This is so people can prepare for wide-ranging disasters or terrorist attacks, but Cass County's emergency manager says the nation may soon move to more tech-savvy alerts.

Dave Rogness – Cass County Emergency Manager: "Right now, its over radio and TV waves, a lot of people don't get their information anymore from those technical places."

All radio and TV stations will air the alert.
