Bison and Panthers have heated history

There no denying that some bad blood exists between NDSU and Northern Iowa. It started when UNI took exception to NDSU being ranked ahead of them when the Bison first came into the league. It continued in 2009, when a skirmish in the Bison bench area resulted in Pat Paschall being suspended one game for throwing a punch, but no punishment for the Panthers.
Add that to the fact that Craig Bohl and Mark Farley simply don't like each other--check out the overly aggressive pregame handshake and slap last year--the college version of the Jim Schwartz-Jim Harbaugh NFL debacle from a few weeks back, without the chase. No matter how you slice it, this rivalry is edgy, and Northern Iowa pushes the limits of sportsmanship at times.
