Hundreds of women may have a new perspective tonight after hearing one women's story of her journey from homelessness to Harvard. The 11th annual United Way Women's Leadership Luncheon featured Liz Murray. Lifetime television's Emmy-nominated film "Homeless to Harvard" is the story of Murray's life. This is the largest luncheon is United Way's history and breaks all attendance records. Murray says if it weren't for non-profit organizations like the United Way, she wouldn't be where she is today.
Liz Murray – Guest Speaker: “People hear about my book and they hear homeless to Harvard and they think, “Oh she's a boot strapper you know she did everything by herself,” and being able to share a key note speech here today I let folks know that it was actually non profit organizations that helped transform my life.”
More than 600 women attended the luncheon.
