St. Paul, MN (WDAY TV) -- We are getting our first look at a soon to be famous pup.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton let the public see his new German Shepherd, Itasca, for the first time. The dog was born in August. He has been with the governor about a month. The new pup will serve as a playmate for Dayton's other dogs, Mesabi and Mingo. Mark Dayton says, "and Mingo is late to have a playmate and Mesabi can't quite figure out why another dog needs to exist but he'll figure it out." The governor names his dogs after certain locations in Minnesota. This time is no exception.
