25 eighth graders from Cheney Middle School got to sit in on college classes at NDSU. Students are in the Advancement Via Individual Determination or AVID program which helps prepare students for college. They went to class and ate lunch with an NDSU student from the Teacher Education program. Officials say this is a great way for students to get a better idea of what a college class will be like.

Stacy Duffield – Teacher Education Professor: "We just hope they see that college is a place they can fit in, that it's something they can obtain, that there are people here to support them, that it is a friendly environment, that the classes are not intimidating."

West Fargo Schools are the only district to have the AVID program in North Dakota.
