Pembina Mayor Facing Marijuana Possession, Paraphernalia and Child Endangerment Charges
The mayor of Pembina is facing charges after authorities say they found marijuana in his house during a search. Mayor Warren Hillukka is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangerment of a child.

Mayor Warren Hillukka is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangerment of a child.
According to the criminal complaint, Sheriff's deputies had a warrant to search Hillukka's home. Deputies found a plastic bag containing less then 1/2 an ounce of marijuana, which is a Class B Misdemeanor. Deputies also found found several marijuana paraphernalia items including a glass pipe with residue that tested positive for marijuana. The marijuana and pipe were found in a bedroom closet. Possession of drug paraphernalia is a Class A misdemeanor.
The criminal complaint also says that Hillukka's granddaughter was living at the home and the items seized were within reach, resulting in a charge of a Class C felnoy.
The Pembina County Sheriff's Office and Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force conducted the investigation.
