Everywhere you look, people are connected. Not by face to face, but by wireless devices. Many Fargo downtown coffee houses have been Wi-Fi friendly for almost half a decade.
Tabitha Daschle (Manager at Moxie Java) : Those two guys that just came in asked if we had Wi-Fi, I said yeah. They are coming in giving us service, it gives us a chance to give them service back.
And just in the last year, the numbers are staggering.
According to the study done by C-T-I-A wireless, there are almost 96-million smart-phones - an increase of 57-percent in only a year.
Josh Friesz (Fargo resident): Business and everything moves at the speed of light with E-mail and text messaging. I definitely enjoy being very well connected.
So how do you get millions of more devices, than people. Well, many people will carry two phones...a work phone and a personal cell. Many college students we spoke with said they have three or more devices to stay connected at all times.
Aaron Woytcke (NDSU Senior): I see it everywhere so it doesn't surprise me. I know where the spots are if I'm off campus.
And just because people are more connected, doesn't mean they're talking more. While minutes used only increased by 1-percent, text messages jumped 16-percent, to more than 1-trillion for the first time ever.
But still, some are more grounded then others.
Woytcke: I still think people should go outside and be active a little more, but I see it happening.
Laptops, cell-phones, tablets, no matter where you are, it's almost impossible not to be connected.
As for the prices? Monthly subscriptions have actually gone down in price - to 47.23 - down 24-cents from last year.
