Just days after being sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for the murder of his son-in-law Gene Kirkpatrick now faces a wrongful death lawsuit. The suit was filed by Roy Gattuso in his name and the orphaned daughter of his murdered brother Fargo dentist Philip Gattuso. Roy Gattuso has had custody of his 5-year-old niece, Kennedy since his brother was beaten to death in his South Fargo home. Kirkpatrick told police he wanted to raise Kennedy because he didn't approve of Philip's parenting skills. Kirkpatrick was convicted of his handyman Michael Nakivinda, who carried out the murder. Both are serving life in prison.
