Minnesota teen sentenced to one year in fatal texting and driving accident

Browerville, MN (WDAY TV) - A judge has sentenced a Browerville, Minnesota teenager to a year in the Ottertail County jail in connection with a fatal texting while driving crash.

A judge has sentenced a Browerville, Minnesota teenager to a year in the Ottertail County jail in connection with a fatal texting while driving crash. 19 year old Kayla Carry has to serve at least two months in jail. She can serve the rest on electronic home monitoring. She also was fined $1,000 and placed on 10 years probation. Authorities say Carry sent or received 15 texts in the 40 minutes before she crossed the center line and crashed head-on into another car on September 16, 2010. The other driver – 77 year-old Lucille Vogt of Parkers Prairie - was killed.
