Minnesota has some of the most expensive child care in the nation. According to a recent study Minnesota ranks 5th as the least affordable. The national study was based on 1,500 center-based providers and did not include in-home providers. The annual cost of a center-based daycare is almost $10,000 a year.

Norma Campos – Center Manager: “We actually had the shutdown for the state not that long ago - and they saw where they either had to have a relative caregiver take care of the child or bring them in for drop in child care and they saw the huge amount - they had to pay about at least 20 dollars a day for drop in.”

2 daycares in East Grand Forks have waiting lists with up to 40 children.
