Valley Water Rescue will soon have a new tool for saving lives. Today, Cass County commissioners approved the use of a $35,000 surplus fund for Valley Water Rescue. The money will go towards paying for a $59,000 state of the art sonar to help on searches that are too dangerous for human divers. The rest of the money to pay for it comes from local donations.
Pete Fendt – Valley Water Rescue: “This sonar unit is going to give us the ability to put the sonar in the water and see 60-feet away from it. So the amount of area that we can cover is going to be huge compared to what we've been doing before.”
Valley Water Rescue will train 8 of its volunteers to know how to use the sonar.
