Grass Fire in Kindred
Kindred, ND (WDAY TV) - Fire crews spent all day containing a grass fire near Kindred.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Fire crews spent all day containing a grass fire near Kindred. The blaze was finally contained around five this evening. Crews from Walcott, Kindred, Davenport, Leonard and Colfax all had to be called in to fight flames. An estimated 80 acres of grass and some hunting shacks burned. Despite high winds, luckily the fire did not reach the cornfields.
Rich Scho – Kindred Fire Chief: “When the wind is high, fire also creates wind and out here there are a lot of hills and valleys. All it takes is a little bit of a gust of wind and the fire pushes it and it will just go right around.”
Damage estimates or the cause aren't known.
