The much anticipated ceremony tonight honoring Roger Maris's historic feat of 61 homeruns in 1961 is being delayed.
Welcome back to Yankee Stadium, where Mother Nature has decided to act up, and the Yankees have decided to postpone the Roger Maris ceremony until tomorrow afternoon. Despite having to wait an extra day, the honoring of Roger Maris isn’t contained to his family.
Joe Girardi – Yankees Manager: “Tomorrow's a special day when you think about the history of the game. I talked to Yogi, Yogi's going to be here. That’s big in and of it self. But I think the guys are excited about it. it's going to be a great day.”
I hope John Wheeler doesn't mind my best prognostication, there's a 60% chance of rain tomorrow, as they'll try and get the ceremony in before the game between Boston and New York.
