A critical meeting in Washington today for the proposed diversion for the Fargo-Moorhead area. North Dakota senators are telling the Army Corps that while the FM area has suffered some of its worst flooding in recent years, it’s only a matter of time before the flood is catastrophic. Senators Hoeven and Conrad are backing the locally preferred plan developed by Fargo and Cass County leaders.
Senator Kent Conrad – (D) North Dakota: “We have been winning flood fight after flood fight, and we pray that continues, but if we were to lose one, the estimated cost would be 6-billion dollars. that a disaster we should do everything we can to prevent.”
Conrad says there will be a presentation to determine of the project gets the Corps' recommendation to go through to President Obama's budget.
