LISBON, N.D. (AP) — An 8-year-old North Dakota boy battling leukemia was surprised Friday morning with a shopping spree to Fargo.
About 200 students at Lisbon Elementary School cheered as Isaak Hoff boarded a 34-foot stretch limo for the trip, which will include stops at Walmart, Toys 'R' Us, GameStop and Texas Roadhouse.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation sponsored the trip.
Isaak's mother, Stephanie Hoff, tells The Forum (http://bit.ly/q4OIZK) that the second-grader was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia six months ago and has undergone intense chemotherapy.
Stephanie Hoff says Isaak originally wished for a four-wheeler. When that idea was nixed, he asked for a hot tub.
He decided on the shopping spree after seeing the idea on the Make-a-Wish website, but he thought the trip was going to take place in October.
