FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials with Dakotas-based Sanford Health are in merger talks with a Minnesota health organization.
The Forum newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/nJUZzA) that Sanford and Clearwater Health Services have signed a nonbinding letter of intent to merge and are now reviewing finances and other issues. That is likely to take several months.
Clearwater Health Services includes a hospital and clinic in Bagley, a clinic in Clearbrook and an ambulance service The organization employs about 80 people.
Sanford Health was formed by the 2009 merger of health systems in North Dakota and South Dakota. It is headquartered in Fargo, N.D., and Sioux Falls, S.D., and bills itself as the nation's largest not-for-profit health care provider, with a presence in more than 100 communities in eight states. It employs more than 900 physicians.
