Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Soccer and Bocce ball players are kicking off the Special Olympics tournament in Grand Forks. Four hundred athletes from across North Dakota are taking part. There are 27 soccer teams and about 100 Bocce Ball teams. The youngest soccer team is made up of eight year olds. More than 200 volunteers are helping run the two day state tourney. Kathy Meagher of the ND Special Olympics says, “we are fortunate not only because we have great weather, but the community of grand forks, east grand forks, and the air force base has really stepped up, has embraced this event for many, many years."
