The man convicted of killing Mahnomen County deputy Chris Dewey will spend the rest of his life in prison. After an emotional day in court, the sentencing for Thomas Fairbanks was handed down. Fairbanks' Attorney read an apology letter written by Fairbanks. In it he says he's sorry for what happened and says sorry to the Dewey family. His sentence; life in prison plus 20 years without parole. Mahnomen county sheriff Doug Krier says it's a relief that it's finally over.

Sheriff Doug Krier – Mahnomen County: “The only question I didn't get answered is why he did it. I didn't expect an answer, but it would have been nice, but so be it.”

The Dewey family declined to talk.
