VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Valley City officials say Police Chief Dean Ross will face charges of misconduct at a hearing Sept. 19 that could lead to his firing.

Mayor Bob Workhoven tells The Forum (http://bit.ly/pBjd7K ) that Ross was suspended without pay on Friday.

Ross was put on paid leave this summer while authorities investigate whether he mismanaged and misspent public money. Ross maintains he has done nothing wrong.

The hearing will be held in front of the City Commission.

Detective Mark McDonald has been named interim police chief.
