FEMA is currently revising Fargo's floodplain map. Because of the revision a lot of properties will be added to the 100 year floodplain. All federally backed or affiliated lender mortgages will be required to carry flood insurance if the property is located in a new special flood hazard area. Although the revisions are preliminary, the City of Fargo is rolling out a new website to help people who will now be in high risk flood zones. The website has flood facts, a revised flood plain map, and flood insurance information.

April Walker – Engineer City of Fargo: “Understanding that that was coming the city started to put together a website to try and gather up a lot of various sources of information into one location for our homeowners out there who may now be subject to flood insurance requirements.”
