The City of Moorhead is hoping its successful buyout streak continues. On Friday, the city sent 54 letters to homes it hopes to buyout. The city offered each homeowner 108% of its assessed property tax value. Moorhead City Manager Michael Redlinger said that number is a pre-2011 flood value. He hopes to close on all the homes by December 1st.
Michael Redlinger - Moorhead City Manager: “We do need some time to get in there and do some environmental testing and mediation. We have to have the properties in a floodable condition by the flood of 2012 if there is one.”
Homeowners have until September 23rd to let the city know whether or not they are interested.
