(WDAY TV) -- With beet harvest looming, locked out American Crystal Sugar workers are eager to get back to work. The lockout is on day 36. Workers say they didn't think the lockout would go this long. With pre-piling of beets starting tomorrow, many workers worry about what will happen during harvest with replacement workers. Union members say running some equipment requires licenses and at least five years of training. Union worker, Lonnie Lamberson, says “every part is a little bit different. It takes a while to know where all the valves and everything is at and who the controls all operate. It's not the easiest thing to walk into.” Company leaders say the company has met with law enforcement in case of problems this week. It is routine every harvest.
