LAKOTA, N.D. (AP) — An 81-year-old Lakota woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday night.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the woman was driving southbound from Lakota when she stopped at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2. The woman then pulled out into the path of another car, driven by 19-year-old Autum Thompson, of Westhope, N.D.

Thompson's car struck the 81-year-old woman's car in the driver's door.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, an 80-year-old Lakota man, was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake and then airlifted to a Fargo hospital.

The Highway Patrol says the woman was wearing a seatbelt but the man was not.

Thompson and her passenger were taken to a hospital with injuries.
