The Highway Patrol is trying out the new program in busy areas during busy travel times. Troopers will be work in specific areas certain days and times. They'll target drivers with bad behaviors like speeding, distractions, or right of way violations. The goal of the increased visibility is to cut down on fatal crashes.

Lt. Aaron Hummel – ND Highway Patrol: “The majority of these troopers will be in these assigned areas that we've found to be high trafficked areas where we can have the most bang for the buck basically and visibility.”

The patrol is not getting extra funding for this enforcement.
