Valley City, ND (WDAY Sports) - Excitement is high in Valley City tonight as VCSU is set to debut it's new field turf tomorrow night.

The project has been a few years in the making, and just wrapped up last week, just in time as the Vikings open the 2011 season tomorrow night with NAIA powerhouse Morningside. VCSU joins Shanley, Concordia, and Dacotah Field with this surface.

Tommy Zinke - VCSU Jr. QB: “You can see the energy level of our team. It's way high right now, we're having a lot of fun practicing on it. Great for our legs.”

Dennis McCulloch - Valley City State Head Coach: “We're excited to just be practicing on it. As we are playing on it, it allows you no matter what the weather's like to have a consistent surface.”

Eric Burgad - VCSU Sr. Free Safety: “We talk about when we're on wet surfaces such as real grass to keep our feet under us, but on surface on this easier to get out on your breaks.”
