A Minnesota Congressman is trying to make it easier for farmers to improve the quality of their fields. Representative Collin Peterson says there are too many rules regarding wetlands. In many counties, farmers can't lay drain tiles underneath or near wetlands. Those drain tiles help rain run off, at a steady pace. But in many cases, the wetlands officials refer to, are bare, low spots in the middle of fields. Peterson says farmers aren't trying to ruin wetlands; they just want to find a way to easily move those wetlands.

Rep. Collin Peterson – (D) Minnesota: "They take me out in their field and they say this is the wetland, they drive their pickup out there, and I say where is the wetland? They say we're in the middle of it. And ah, hell, I can't see it."

Peterson's raising money to put together a program to oversee wetland management from the farmer's point of view.
