It's an old building made new again. But not everything's done yet. With school less than a week away, will Lake-Park Audubon be ready to unveil its new elementary school in time?
On the outside, the new Lake Park-Audubon Elementary School still looks like a construction zone, but school officials are confident everything on the inside will be ready in time for classes to start next Tuesday. $3.5 million later, much of the inside of the LPA Elementary School is brand new. A new computer lab, music room and gym floor are the biggest changes.
Crews are still putting the finishing touches on the other computer lab, main offices and even the hallways still need paint. Seven new classrooms sit finished and ready for next week's onslaught of students. Each and every classroom will have a new projector system that features interactive white board technology.
Sam Skaaland – LPA Elementary Principal: “The interactive parts, the new technology, they're going to be faced with that in the future, their going to be learning tools the rest of their lives. And it's really important that it starts here at an elementary level.”
Parents may have some challenges with drop off ad pick-up on the first week of school. This parking lot and front entrance aren't expected to be completed until the end of next week. The new Lake Park-Audubon High School is set to be complete next year.
